The Project

Emacruz (Municipal Cleaning Enterprise of Santa Cruz) is an institutional web platform designed to centralize communication with citizens and coordinate the informational logistics of urban cleaning services. The technical core of the project consisted of developing the official portal and implementing an interactive mapping system to visualize waste collection routes and frequencies in real-time.

Architecture and Stack

  • WordPress (Classic Theme Development): Development of a custom classic theme from scratch to ensure optimal load performance and full control over the HTML semantics of the institutional site.
  • Leaflet.js & OpenStreetMap: Integration of lightweight, vector-based interactive maps to trace waste collection routes, frequencies, and districts across the city, avoiding paid map API dependencies.
  • Bootstrap & Vanilla JS: Responsive layout and dynamic components to ensure accessibility for the entire population from mobile devices and desktop computers.
  • PHP & MySQL: Optimized modeling and storage of institutional data (news, ecological campaigns, official announcements, and management reports) using Custom Post Types and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
  • Elementor & Custom Widgets: Development of PHP widgets at the code level to integrate map interactivity and notifications lists within the self-managed administrative interface of WordPress.

Project Modules

  • Interactive Route & Frequency Mapping: Geographic visualization of waste collection truck routes segmented by districts and schedules, helping citizens easily check when the service will pass.
  • Citizen Communication Management (Custom Post Types): Content structure optimized for real-time publishing of local news, environmental awareness campaigns, transparency reports, and publicly downloadable institutional documents.

Current Status

The project is currently in production, operating as the official communication channel for municipal cleaning services in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
