Komuna · Ecotourism Portal & Booking System
Tourist web portal developed to centralize and promote the catalog of ecotourism destinations and tours in the Bolivian Amazon, integrating booking systems and advanced search.

The Project
Komuna is an ecotourism web platform designed to centralize, promote, and facilitate the exploration of ecological destinations and tours in the Bolivian Amazon. The project offers users an immersive, high-performance interface to explore the natural and cultural wealth of the region, while also facilitating travel planning and booking requests through interactive forms tailored to the agency’s commercial needs.
Architecture and Stack
- WordPress (Classic Theme Development): Architecture based on WordPress through the creation of a fully custom classic theme from scratch. The native PHP template engine was utilized to ensure absolute control over HTML markup and maximize performance.
- Bootstrap & JavaScript: Implementation of fluid layouts and dynamic components, ensuring that the portal is fully accessible and optimized for mobile and desktop devices.
- PHP & MySQL: Server-side logic development for custom tour and destination registration, categorization, and optimized query handling through Custom Post Types (CPT) and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
- Elementor & Custom Widgets: A hybrid integration that combines the visual administration convenience of Elementor with custom PHP-built widgets to render complex components like itineraries, pricing tables, and maps.
Project Modules
- Experience & Tour Management (Custom Post Types & Metadata): Structured data modeling to categorize ecological destinations, travel guides, and itineraries. Specific metadata was integrated, such as departure dates, length of stay, rates, difficulty levels, and included services.
- Destination Finder & Filtering: Development of an interactive filter system that allows travelers to refine their search by categories, duration, or activities intuitively.
- Booking Engine & Contact: Integration of smart forms that automate pre-booking of tour packages, capturing detailed traveler information and channeling requests efficiently to the operations team.
Current Status
